Gozen Bistro Sushi & Grill has opened its doors at the corner of Queen and Clarence streets.
It's the second location for owner Jun Hwang. For the last few years, he has run Gozen restaurant on Central Ave. just off Richmond Row.
Hwang emigrated from Korea 18 years ago and studied hotel and restaurant management in Montreal.
The original Gozen is popular with University of Western Ontario students, but with only 18 seats, it is not large enough to meet the demand.
The 120-seat Gozen Bistro Sushi & Grill is much larger and features an extensive menu of Japanese dishes, including some spectacular sushi prepared by head chef Kevin Koh, who has 15 years experience with a major Korean hotel.
The menu also offers traditional Korean dishes, such as kalbi and bibimbop.
The interior has been renovated with an Asian theme and the exterior has been painted a striking cherry red.
The outdoor patio will open in the spring.
